6pm Series: Henk Neven and Hans Eijsackers - Monday 05 July
Time: 18:00
In 1840, the 30-year-old Schumann enjoyed an annus mirabilis, otherwise known as his ‘year of song’. Amongst the fervent outpouring of love (for his wife, Clara), and of Lieder were his great song-cycles, none greater than Dichterliebe. Chopin is less well-known for his songs, but they are considerable in quality and quantity. This programme, featuring our trio of bicentenarian composers, is completed by Henk Neven’s ‘Discovery’ of songs by his fellow Dutchman De Lange.
