Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble - Tuesday 06 July
Time: 19:30
Composer/poet Miguel Azguime and his video/sound designer Paula Azguime are the founder-directors of Portugal’s highly innovative and experimental music ensemble. Azguime, one of his country’s most prominent composers, has created for the Festival a new work which dramatically reflects the maritime history of Portugal, biodiversity and the relationship between man and nature’s forces, drawing on great poetry by Shakespeare (The Tempest), Camões (Os Lusíadas, the great poetic history of Portugal), Pessoa and his own writing. This concert, also featuring Pedro Carneiro in his more familiar role as one of Europe’s leading percussionists, includes another new work specially written for the programme by the Brazilian Flo Menezes. With specially created projections and electronic music effects, this dramatic concert will promise amazement, surprise and delight.
