City of London Festival's Education programme has produced a resource for Key Stage Three, George Bridgetower: Art, Liberty & Slavery 1807. The resource explores the life of the 18th century black violinist and prodigy, George Bridgetower, who lived and worked in London at the time of the parliamentary abolition of the slave trade. It also examines other artists, writers and musicians of the time, with a special focus on their relationship to the anti-slavery movement.
