The largest church in the City of London originally built in 1450 was badly damaged during the great fire of 1666. The current church was rebuilt by Wren's masons in between 1670 to 1671. The historic tower holds the twelve bells of the Old Bailey made famous by the nursery rhyme 'Oranges and Lemons'.
