There has been a church on Lothbury, the street that runs along the North Side of the Bank of England, since the 12th Century. It was rebuilt in 1440 at the expense of the Mayor. The church was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666, and rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren who completed it in 1690.
